Our History
Pastor Steve Brown originates from Bible Baptist Church in Bucks County, PA where he served as an Assistant Pastor. There he married his wife Sharon Barnett of Haslett, MI in 1977. After 13 years of serving Bible Baptist Church, Pastor Brown and wife Sharon believed God was calling them to take a church plant in Philadelphia. After 7 years of fruitful ministry they sensed God calling them to Michigan, where they moved in July 1993 to seek God's will.
Pastor Brown and Sharon attended Grove Bible Church before being contacted by First Baptist Church of Laingsburg at Christmas 1994 to fill the pulpit. In Spring 1994 they were asked to be the full time Pastor of First Baptist where they have served for almost 30 years. Due to an illness brought on by Covid, they believed it was time to step down as Senior Pastor. The church believed the Lord was leading to make him Pastor Emeritus and to call a younger man to be lead Pastor.
Through the generosity of the church, Pastor Brown and Sharon are able to semi-retire at First Baptist and remain as long as the Lord leads. They are excited to see God working in our church and school and are passing down their wisdom to the new Pastor and his wife Kaylee.

Our Plans for the Future
Pastor Brian Slack is originally from West Virginia where he graduated high school in 2010 before attending Glenville State College on a baseball scholarship. After getting saved he returned home and attended church faithfully at Pleasant View Baptist Church while he worked in construction for several years. Pastor Brian would preach whenever the opportunity presented itself. He transferred to Pensacola Christian College to study Pastoral Ministry in the Spring of 2016. There he met his wife Kaylee (Campbell) Slack and was married in 2020.
After graduating with his Bachelors degree in Pastoral Ministry, Pastor Brian began his Masters of Divinity at Pensacola Theological Seminary. While living in Pensacola working on his Master's, Brian drove a school bus for Pensacola Christian Academy and interned at a local church in Alabama. After the Lord's leading he and his wife moved to Michigan and Brian accepted the position of Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Laingsburg.
We are currently in a rebuilding stage, but we are optimistic that God has a work to do in this community for every generation. There are plenty of opportunities for others to serve and get involved. If you are looking for a church with balance, then we are the place for you. We are a mix of traditional and contemporary worship, but most importantly we hold the Word of God as our highest priority.
